As an electrician here in our town maybe I should start learning out on how to install electric fireplace because the demands for it is increasing little by little. Anyway, thanks for the great share here.

Dear Edith,

I am sorry you have had high humidity issues in the past.

This is different. It is most likely to cause no more humidity than sharing a cup of coffee or tea with a friend!

Good luck to you.

Hello Edith, thanks for your comment! To be honest Dimplex probably has all kinds of plans for the Opti-Myst series but we are not aware of any pending developments at this time. We will be sure to update the blog as soon as any big changes come through. As for the dehumidifier, we have not had any complaints about the build up of moisture from our customers so I wouldn't be too concerned about any possible build. Thanks for your input!

Hi Vanessa. I am very interested in an OptiMyst, but would like to see a dehumidifier added before I buy one. The reason is that right now the vapor has nowhere to go, so it either condenses on the inside of the firebox and starts dripping, or runs down the walls and windows. It could also bead up on wood furniture, ruining the finish, or be absorbed by upholstered pieces causing a mold and mildew problem.
I think there is enough room in a large mantel to install a small, low-powered dehumidifier that could also recycle the water back to the tank. For an insert, I would install it in the back of the unit with the intake vent positioned above the flames. That would turn their great idea into an even better one.

I was hoping that Dimplex would build a Cavendish-style unit for the US market. Do you know if they ever will? Thanks

Dear Brenda,
Try calling Twin Star at 1-866-661-1218, they are the parent company and they may be able to tell you where you can purchase a remote individually.
Sincerely,
EFD

Hi Lori, It is not recommended. A standard household outlet is best. Thanks.
